About

William Isaac is a Principal Scientist and Head of Ethics Research at Google DeepMind. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member of the Human Rights Data Analysis Group and a Research Affiliate at the Oxford University Centre for the Governance of AI.

William’s research focuses on the societal impact and governance of emerging technologies, with a primary focus on AI. Previously, he has served in key leadership roles within AI ethics and responsible development, such as serving as General Chair of the ACM FAccT conference, Ethics Review Chair for NeurIPS, and as an Open Society Foundations Fellow.

His research has been featured in publications such as Science, The New York Times, and the MIT Technology Review.
